THe Unariati 960 & #FullChains
I’ve been receiving many questions about unaries since the Unariati 960 list went live on Name Apes.
The page lists all 960 unaries from Length 3 (L3) to Length 8 (L8).
Name Apes provides some advanced tools for sorting and filtering custom collections, so I thought that I would give an example of how to use this.
Remember that digit unaries always contain ONLY one digit. There are 96 configurations (Config), each with 10 different possible names. This gives a total of 960 names on the list.
It is important to note that the Unariati is not a set in the way that you are used to seeing clubs on marketplace sites. Technically, it is a COLLECTION of the 96 rarest sets from L3 to L8. All other possible digit sets have at least 90 names per configuration. And within each configuration there are several patterns, each with 90 supply. All of your favourite "club" sets are collections as well, but they contain sets of different rarity levels, whereas the Unariati 960 can be described as non-arbitrary due to its single rarity level.
The following chart breaks down all 193M+ possible digit names created by the 96 configurations up to L8.
Of the 193M+ possible names, 960 are U1 (unaries). By contrast, the U2, which are rare in their own right, make up 132130 of the names.
The unaries make up 5 ppm (parts per million) of the total (193M+) supply of digit names to L8.
Think about that, 960 out of 193+million…
This rarity is so extreme that it is hard to comprehend just how much more fundamentally rare the unaries are compared to all non-unaries.
One of the interesting things about unaries is that there are many different ways to collect them.
Some people prefer shorter lengths, or palindromes, or certain numbers.
Some people seek to hold a complete set of unaries. Remember that there are 96 sets of 10 unaries. These complete sets have been dubbed #FullChains by unary enthusiasts.
Of the 96 configs, 11 have been assembled as a #FullChain, owned by single wallets. Another seven are potentially #FullChain (8 or 9 in one wallet).
This leaves only 78 sets of 10 (780 total) that remain available for individual name sales.
Of these, only 106 are currently listed for sale.
This brought up a couple of questions…
How many #FullChains are currently assembled?
AND
Are there any #FullChains that would be possible to assemble now?
Let’s take a look:
None of the L3 (A-A and AAA) or L4 (A--A, A-AA, AA-A, AAAA) configurations are currently assembled into full chains. It is unlikely at this point for anyone to assemble, as current holders are aware of both the value of their unaries, and the multiplicative effect of stacking rarity. I would estimate that it would take hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, to assemble an L3 or L4 #FullChain.
At L5, there are six configurations, with three of them being PALINDROMES.
A-A-A, A--AA, A-AAA, AA-AA, AAA-A, AAAAA
Config102 A--AA is the first #FullChain that we see assembled in a single wallet.
The owner also holds ALL 26 unary letters of this configuration. It will be interesting to see if any other collector will match this.
It may still be possible at longer lengths, I haven’t checked for any evidence of “chainbreakers” in the letter unaries.
The other L5 configs are quite fragmented and based on my knowledge of the holders, unlikely to be assembled into #FullChains
There are twelve L6 configurations, two of them are PALINDROME:
AAAAAA, A-AA-A, A--A-A, A--AAA, A-A--A, A-A-AA, A-AAAA, AA-A-A, AA-AAA, AAA--A, AAA-AA, AAAA-A
Two of these are currently assembled in #FullChains. Config1011 by rgb600.eth, and Config1101 by richrichards.eth
There are a few wallets with large holdings in L6, but it is unclear whether they will attempt to assemble #FullChains. DM me if you are interested in #FullChains or any unlisted names, as I know most unary holders.
There are 24 L7 configurations. Seven of these are palindromes.
Of the palindromes, there is one potential #FullChain.
Config10101 A--A--A is one away from assembling in a single wallet. I am not sure if the 2nd wallet is related. Regardless, the owner of 5--5--5.eth is in an enviable position.
Of the 17 non-palindrome configs, four are assembled as #FullChains.
Config302 AAA--AA
Config311 AAA-A-A
Config401 AAAA--A
Config1012 A--A-AA
Of the 13 remaining L7 configs, five are potential #FullChains, with 9/10 assembled in a wallet:
Config24 AA-AAAA
Config1021 A--AA-A
Config2101 AA-A--A
Config3001 AAA---A
Config11001 A-A---A
This leaves only 8 of 24 sets, 80 of 240 L7 Unaries potentially available for individual sale.
As $5 reg names, holders of the existing #FullChains feel no pressure from carrying costs, and are aware of what they hold. There is no impetus to take profits and dump these sets on an undeveloped market. I’ve heard people say they would consider a 50E offer, but unless they have multiple #FullChains, they would probably regret in years to come.
There are 48 L8 configs, six of them palindromes. None of the palindromes appear to be likely assembled into #FullChains.
There are four L8 #FullChains currently assembled:
Config101001 A--A---A
Config1202 A-AA--A
Config3101 AAA-A--A
Config4001 AAAA---A
There are two more potential #FullChains:
Config1013 A--A-AAA
Config105 A--AAAAA
There are other holders that have a large volume of L8 names, but spread over many configs. Will be interesting to see if community members reach out to each other for trades or to partner.
You may have heard about a second list of unaries, The Unariati Palindrome 930. This list contains the 21 sets of unary palindromes up to L8 (also in the Unariati 960), as well as the 72 more sets (720) of unary palindromes from L9 to L12. There are 93 sets, so 930 total unary palindromes from L3 to L12.
That is 930 unary palindromes out of the 3.1+ trillion possible ENS digit names from L3 to L12.
It’s very difficult to comprehend the size of a trillion, let alone 3.1+ of them. A trillion is a million millions…
Basically, every existing ENS name (approaching 3M), would each need to register over 1M digit names, and of all those names, 930 would be unary palindromes. Even counting ALL the unaries up to L12, there would only be 15360…
We are talking about fundamental rarity defined by properties of the ENS system, and we are finding a level of rarity that is absurdly high. That is pretty exciting when you think about the opportunities to develop upon this reservoir of value.
I won’t break down all of the Unariati Palindrome 930 in this article, but I will point out that there are existing #FullChains assembled, and I think that there are still some opportunities to assemble.
Part of the fun of all of this is the exploration. #FullChains aren’t the only way to collect or to stack rarity within the unaries. It really is a blank canvas, and I am interested in seeing what others see and what we create together.
